I've a volume which includes both Dubliners and Artist. It's my water closet book, and I'm about ten Dubliners along. When I'm done, probably about October, I was planning to call it good with Joyce, but now, thanks to your review, I'm starting to hope I'll live long enough to enjoy Ulysses. You have such a wonderful, flowing expository style, that I'm jealous of your ability. You should plunge into a big writing project! I’m sure there’s a great story’s seed that just wants (years of) water in the soil of your soul.

Aw, thank you! I love that phrase, "the soil of your soul" -- beautiful, and very Joycean. I do have a light writing project that I've wanted to get done for years, but I just have such a hard time doing "official" writing -- some part of me just clams up and gets so tongue-tied and muddled. I write a sentence, read it over, hate it, delete it, write it again, delete it -- ad infinitum. An exercise in fluster and frustration. I hope one day to get over my "script fright," but like my never-ending sentence emendations, it's a work in progress.
